Where to Obtain Lewis County Records

Birth and death records are available from 1883-1887 only at the Lewis County Clerk’s Office.  Birth and death records from 1910 and on are available at the state level.  Apparently, there was a fire at the courthouse that destroyed records from the intervening years.  Marriage, land, naturalization and Circuit Court records are all available from 1833 and on at the Circuit Clerk & Recorder of Deeds Office.  Probate records from 1833 on are available at the Probate Division Office.
